Our tablet housings are designed to accommodate a wide range of tablets, from 6-inch to 13-inch screens. The largest tablets we currently support are the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 11. While most of our product lines are optimized for tablets up to 13 inches, the Keyo may be a suitable option for certain devices with larger displays. Additionally, for screens exceeding these dimensions, we provide the option to use a VESA mount with our stands, enabling secure and versatile support for even bigger devices. Yes. Our stands are designed to allow cabling to pass through the rear of the housing and through the tube or tilt assembly depending on the product.

The majority of our products can facilitate a clean, cable free look when fully assembled. Certain models, such as the ALUR, and Floor, may require extended cables (sold separately) in order to run the full length of the kiosk.

Our standard enclosures are designed with security first, meaning the tablet is locked inside the housing with a four-point tamper-resistant fastener system. This ensures maximum theft protection in public or high-traffic environments and does not allow for quick removal.

For customers who require both security and mobility, we now offer the AdaptX universal tablet and monitor mount. AdaptX allows you to quickly release the housing from its stand or mount — while the tablet itself remains secured inside the enclosure. This gives you the flexibility to move between interactions, capture images, or control systems without compromising device protection.

If limited tethered mobility is all that’s required, our Spot enclosures can also be paired with a Kensington® cable lock for a small range of motion while in use.

Is it safe and reliable?

However, it's important to note that exceeding this weight limit will void the warranty. If your tablet's screen goes completely dark after installation, it might be due to the tablet's auto-dimming feature for night viewing. This feature is designed to adjust the screen brightness based on ambient light conditions. When installing the tablet, make sure to turn off this auto-dimming feature before securing it in place. In some cases, the bezel of the tablet stand or enclosure may cover the light sensor responsible for this function. Disabling auto-dimming before installation should resolve the issue and ensure your tablet's display remains visible.

To turn off the auto-dimming feature on your tablet, follow these general steps:

1. Go to the tablet's "Settings" or "Display" menu.
2. Look for a "Brightness" or "Display Brightness" option.
3. Within this menu, you should find an option related to auto-brightness or auto-dimming.
4. Disable or toggle off this option to turn off the auto-dimming feature.

By default, Armodilo’s original housing restricts access to the tablet power button completely. If you plan to be connected to power continuously, and have no need to turn off the tablet, this is the ideal solution.

If you would like to prevent members of the public from pressing the power button but require some access for for your staff or operators, the access hole is your best option. This allow easy access for basic troubleshooting.

If you need to be able to turn the tablet on and off regularly throughout the day, and wish to allow guests, clients, or customers to access this feature as well, then the power button is the right option for you.

Unfortunately the power access hole and power button options require precision machining on the tablet enclosure that cannot be done in the field.

If you decide that you do in fact need this option, after purchase, you will need to return the tablet enclosures to us temporarily to perform all modifications. Please ask your sales representative for more details.

The Keyo was designed specifically with accessories in mind, and there is adequate space behind the tablet to conceal most small accessories, such as, USB or Ethernet adapters, USB hubs, power over Ethernet (PoE) adapters, and other assorted accessories.

In our Original line of products there is some very limited space inside the housing, and we cannot guarantee that any non-Armodilo accessories will fit. However, we can accommodate some custom solutions, and we encourage you to contact us and ask a sales representative for additional details.

While we cannot source or recommend specific options, we can accommodate custom integration. In these circumstances, we would need you to send your accessory to our offices for development. Lead

ArmoTwist:
The ArmoTwist accessory allows seamless transition between portrait and landscape mode for your tablet in a flick of the wrist. Offering 360 degrees of rotation and up to 25 degrees of tilt, the ArmoTwist is compatible with our 3-in-1, Floor, and Surface units. It can be added at any time to enhance flexibility and user experience.

Surface Swivel:
The Surface Swivel base is designed specifically for the Surface tablet, allowing it to be rotated 360º at the base to reposition the tablet display while mounted to a surface. This accessory does not affect the display orientation but provides convenient repositioning options. Like the ArmoTwist, the Surface Swivel can be added at any time to accommodate changing needs.

Revolve:
Introducing the Revolve, a revolutionary accessory that seamlessly glides on a 90-degree pivot to enable viewing in landscape or portrait mode with just a flick of the wrist. Compatible with stands like the Sphere, Curve, Wall, and Tilt, the Revolve offers unparalleled versatility in display orientation. It complements your Armodilo stand by providing effortless adjustment options to suit your viewing preferences. Just like the ArmoTwist and Surface Swivel, the Revolve can be added at any time to enhance the functionality of your Armodilo stand.

Sphere Rotational Base:
Improve the interactivity of your Armodilo Sphere desktop tablet & iPad enclosure with this rotational base that adds up to 355° of side-to-side rotation. Ideal for POS/point of sale, shared-use surfaces, locked-orientation apps, or kiosks with multiple users. Not content with just one axis of rotation, we’ve gone all the way by developing a unique accessory for the Sphere. The optional built-in Rotational Base allows for easier positioning and movement of the tablet. Rotation is an optional add-on; please ask your sales representative for more information.

Currently, we offer regular support for two different readers from MagTek.

The Dynamag card reader is a USB connected reader that offers simple swipe functionality. This reader is typically used with Android, and Windows based devices. However, some additional hardware may be required with Android as there is normally only a single USB port on these devices, and it’s generally used for power.

The eDynamo card reader is able to connect via micro USB, or Bluetooth, and is compatible with all three major tablet operating systems. This reader also incorporates a chip reader in addition to its swipe functionality, allowing for a greater level of security.

Many of our accessories and add-ons are modular and can be added at any time, although some exceptions apply.

Items such as card reader brackets and on/off buttons require additional machine work to your enclosure and cannot be added in the field.

Removing screws from Armodilo stands requires specific tools depending on the type of screws used.

1. ArmoLock Screws: Our proprietary ArmoLock Screws can only be removed using the ArmoLock driver provided with your stand. This specialized driver ensures the security and integrity of your stand's assembly.
2. Phillips and Allen Key Screws: Depending on the stand model, you may encounter Phillips or Allen Key screws in various sizes. To remove these screws, you'll need a compatible Phillips head screwdriver or Allen key set.

We now offer a Weather Resistant Coating and upgraded hardware for units designated for outdoor use. Please note that there is an additional cost associated with this service, and it is available for most of our stands. However, it's essential to ensure that the tablets used with these outdoor stands are either IP rated or mounted in an IP rated case and capable of withstanding outdoor climate and temperatures. Armodilo will not be responsible for the tablets or power supplies for outdoor installations.

While our products are built to high standards, they do not offer significant protection against the elements for long-term outdoor use. Consumer-focused tablets like the iPad and Microsoft Surface Pro are not designed for extended outdoor usage and may perform erratically in extreme conditions. For permanent outdoor solutions, we recommend exploring purpose-built options with outdoor-rated displays to ensure the success of your project.

No, it is not recommended to ship stands with Tablets installed. Tablets are designed to be stationary when in use. When they are installed on stands and subjected to the vibrations and movements associated with shipping, it can potentially cause issues with the tablet's placement and even lead to damage. To ensure the tablets remain in optimal condition, it is advisable to remove them from the stands before shipping and securely pack them separately to prevent any potential problems during transit.

Yes. All of our Original products are designed with anchor points that allow you to secure the units to the floor, or other surfaces, through the use screws or bolts (not provided). For the ALUR, we can accommodate secure mounting options as a custom
solution.

If you would prefer to utilize a less permanent solution, we offer the QuikLink Secure adapter that will allow you to connect a standard Kensington cable lock to the units. (Please note that the Tilt, Wall, Keyo and Surface, must be secured using bolts or screws as applicable.). Yes. We offer various ways to make our products uniquely yours:

• On both our Original and Keyo lines the faceplate (or front area) of the enclosure can either be laser etched or UV printed with logos or custom graphics.
• In our Original line, the Floor can be equipped with hardware for rear banner or front graphic branding and signage.

For more striking branding options, the ALUR employs a magnetically applied full length graphics that features your brand front and centre.

We are able to apply text or small logos to the face plates on our Original and Keyo line of products. We offer both laser etching and UV printing solutions.

Our laser etching process strips the paint from the face plate to reveal the underlying steel. The final product has an attractive monochrome look and at $10 per unit is ideal for the budget minded customer. This option is not well suited to our gunmetal grey finish due to the similar colour of the underlying steel.

UV printing allows for full-colour logos and text applied in ink. With UV printing, we are able to print any combination of text or images to ensure that our solution matches your environment. This service starts at $25. Increased costs apply when printing in multiple location or with full face plate coverage.
