What devices does the Armodilo tablet kiosk support?

Most kiosks systems on the market only support one type of tablet, and upgrading that tablet device will require the purchase of a new tablet kiosk down the road. Armodilo is a true multi-tablet kiosk system, currently supporting the Apple iPad 1, 2 & 3, Motorola Xoom, Blackberry Playbook, & Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Our patent pending tablet fit-kits™ can be purchased separately and swapped out quickly to accommodate a new tablet device. Armodilo has been designed to easily accept new tablet devices up to a maximum size of 11.1" (257mm) W x 7.75" (197mm) H x 0.5" (12.7mm) D.

Are any of the 'extra' controls available once the tablet is placed into the housing?

No. We designed Armodilo to specifically give no access to peripheral tablet functions other than the touchscreen. Adjustments to various functions such as volume or power need to be accessed by removing the faceplate.

Is it easy to configure Armodilo for landscape or portrait mode?

Yes. It literally takes only seconds to configure the unit for either orientation.

Is Armodilo easy to configure for floor, desktop or wall mounting?

Yes. To switch Armodilo from its floor configuration to the desktop version and vice versa is quick and easy. The wall mount option is a semi-permanant configuration and requires a little more planning but the unit has been designed to accommodate that function as well.

Armodilo seems to be much lighter than other systems on the market. Is it sturdy?

Yes. Even though Armodilo is extremely light, the tablet kiosk is very sturdy due to its wide base and low center of gravity. As with everything, the display stand could get tipped with excessive force. Reasonable precautions should be taken to ensure the display stand doesn't get knocked when being displayed.

Is Armodilo easy to transport?

Very. Armodilo was designed for trade shows and other exhibiting events where a portable, pop-up tablet kiosk is required. Our patent pending design ensures the most versatility of any display stand on the market. The entire system disassembles and stores neatly in our custom designed travel case for easy transportation. The entire display stand weighs a mere 15lbs while the carrying case weighs 14lbs, for a total combined travel weight of only 29lbs.

Is there any security to deter theft?

All Armodilo display stands come with a Kensington Security Slot so that a computer security cable can be fitted to lock down the unit if required. We've also included anti-theft Torx screws to secure the faceplate to the main housing to deter tablet theft. Armodilo is intended to be used in temporary and semi-permanent installations; supervision of the tablet kiosk is suggested, and removal of the tablet device when unsupervised for longer periods of time is strongly recommended.

What colours is Armodilo available in?

Currently we are offering Armodilo in a black and gun metal grey finishes (based on availability). The units are anodized and then powder coated for an extremely durable finish. Other colours are available as a custom order option. Please contact us for pricing and delivery times for custom color options.

What if I get a new tablet, can I still use Armodilo?

Definitely. Armodilo has been designed to easily accept new tablet devices up to a maximum size of 11.1" (257mm) W x 7.75" (197mm) H x 0.5" (12.7mm) D. We're constantly developing new tablet fit-kits for the most common tablet devices. Tablet fit-kits include a new set of tablet inserts and faceplate frame.

Does Armodilo come supplied with a tablet device?

Sometimes we get asked if we can supply a tablet with the display stand. Though we can offer this as an option, it is much more economical for our clients to source their own pricing on either new or used tablets for their showcasing requirements.
